What Is the Standard Visiting Card Size in India?

The standard visiting card size in India is 89 × 54 mm. That is what fits a wallet, a cardholder and the card slots in most diaries, which is why nearly every card printed here uses it. Square and PVC cards have their own dimensions, listed on each product page.

Matte or Glossy Finish

Standard and classic cards print on 300 GSM stock in matte or glossy. Matte has a flat, non-reflective surface that is easier to write on and reads as more understated. Glossy is reflective and makes colours and photographs look more vivid. Same weight, same price: it is a preference, not a difference in quality.

Single-Sided or Double-Sided

Printing on both sides costs the same as printing on one, so there is little reason to leave the back blank. If you want double-sided business cards, design or upload both sides before you order.

Which Type of Visiting Card Should You Choose?

Standard Visiting Cards

Standard visiting cards are 300 GSM, matte or glossy, from ₹231 per 100. This is the default: clean print, single or double sided. It is right for most businesses, and it is the one most people order.

Classic Visiting Cards

Classic visiting cards use 300 GSM premium stock, from ₹264 per 100. You get better paper for a small difference in price, and the difference is noticeable in the hand, which is the part people actually notice.

Rounded Corner Visiting Cards

Rounded corner visiting cards start from ₹271 per 100. They use the same stock as classic, with the corners cut round. Round corners resist bending in a pocket, and they are the detail someone registers when they take your card out a week later.

Textured Paper Visiting Cards

Textured paper visiting cards start from ₹407 per 100. The paper is uncoated with a tactile finish, which suits architects, designers, consultants and anyone whose card is doing some of the work for them.

Non-Tearable Visiting Cards

Non-tearable visiting cards are printed on 300 GSM PET, from ₹353 per 100, in matte and glossy. The synthetic stock survives a wallet, rain and being sat on, so it is right for site work, field roles and anyone whose card lives in a pocket rather than a holder.

PVC Visiting Cards

PVC visiting cards are 760 micron thick, from ₹679 for 10. They are plastic, closer to a credit card in thickness. They are deliberately the most expensive option and are usually ordered for senior staff or a small run where the card itself is meant to be the impression.

Square Visiting Cards

Square visiting cards start from ₹231 for 96. The shape is non-standard, so it stands out in a stack. The trade-off is that it will not sit in a conventional cardholder.

Visiting Cards vs Business Cards: Is There a Difference?

No. A visiting card and a business card are the same thing: a small printed card with your name, role and contact details. “Visiting card” is the everyday term in India, while “business card” is more common in corporate and international settings, so you will see both used for the same product.

The one practical difference is size. The common US business card is 3.5 × 2 inches, about 89 × 51 mm, while the standard in India is 89 × 54 mm. If the cards will be handed out in India, design for 89 × 54 mm.

Premium Business Cards: What Makes a Card Feel Premium?

In practice, it comes down to paper, shape, and material. These are the upgrades available from the standard card:

• Better paper. Classic cards use premium 300 GSM stock for a small step up in price.

• A different surface. Textured paper is uncoated and tactile, so the card feels different before anyone reads it.

• A different shape. Rounded corners or square cards break from the usual rectangle.

• A different material. Non-tearable PET survives rough handling, and 760 micron PVC feels like a credit card.

You do not have to pick one. Many teams order standard cards for everyone and a small batch of PVC or textured cards for senior staff in the same order.

What to Put on a Visiting Card

Name, designation, company name, phone number, email and website. That is usually enough. A card with six lines gets read; a card with twelve gets pocketed and forgotten.

Three things matter in practice:

• Keep 3mm clear of every edge. Anything closer risks being lost when the card is trimmed.

• Do not go below 7pt. Smaller than that stops being readable on a card held at arm’s length.

• Use the back. Double-sided costs the same as single-sided, so a QR code, a service list or a map is free space that most people leave blank.
